Wooden Boat
Soft Pastel has been used for centuries as a fine art medium, maybe the most well-known use of pastels would be Degas’ ballerinas.
Pastel is just pure pigment and a binder on a stick, which gives them freshness and more spontaneous results. They help keep my work light and simple, which is why pastels are one of my preferred mediums to work with.
This wooden shabby boat caught my eye during our family summer vacation on the tranquil Roatan island. Not only did the elongated shape and colors attract my attention, but also the interesting shadows. This work was selected as a finalist at Richeson75 International Art Competitions Small Works 2018.
