Black Eyed Susan
8" x 8" original pastel painting of black-eyed Susan. As indicated by its name, the flower head has a prominent black or dark-brown central cone that is surrounded by rich, yellow, petal-like rays. They bloom at my front yard every summer and I use them as my references for the painting.Soft Pastel has been used for centuries as a fine art medium, maybe the most well-known use of pastels would be Degas’ ballerinas.
Pastel is just pure pigment and a binder on a stick, which gives them freshness and more spontaneous results. They help keep my work light and simple, which is why pastels are one of my preferred mediums to work with.
Framed on a white frame under non glareart glass. Outside size 10"x 10"
